Beyond Bostock: A Discussion on Health, Religion and LGBTQ Discrimination
This June, a landmark decision came down in the U.S. Supreme Court for LGBTQ rights. In Bostock v. Clayton County, Ga., the Court ruled that employers cannot discriminate against employees on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. But the following month, the Court also issued a decision in favor of religious objectors to anti-discrimination protections. Georgia State Law’s Center for Law, Health & Society hosted a virtual panel discussion to dive into these important cases.

Honoring the "Ground Crew" - Livestream Recording Available of the Inaugural Groundbreaker Lecture
A recording of the livestream from the Provost's Office Inaugural Groundbreaker Lecture, honoring three women who sued to desegregate Georgia State University in the late 1950s is now available. The event was held Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 in the State Ballroom at Student Center East.
The event honored Myra Payne Elliott, Barbara Pace Hunt, and Iris Mae Welch, and featured Dr. Maurice C. Daniels, dean emeritus and professor emeritus at the University of Georgia, whose book "Ground Crew: The Fight to End Segregation at Georgia State" as the lecture's speaker. Ms. Elliott, her family, and the family of the late Ms. Hunt received special recognition by the university and the Georgia House of Representatives.
