As part of Latinx Heritage Month at Georgia State University Sept. 15-Oct. 15, LACCHI and Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. will host an insightful presentation and discussion with Dr. Michael Benitez, a nationally acclaimed scholar in diversity, equity and inclusion - discussing the complexity of experiences and identities within Hispanic/Latina/o/x communities.

Contribute to DEI at Georgia State: The State Day

There are many ways to contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion - definitely not only through financial contributions. But, where and when possible, there's a great opportunity to support the university's mission to become an institution for all through Georgia State Day on September 27, 2022, starting at 10 a.m.  - continuing for 1 day, 9 hours and 13 minutes (or, the university's founding year, 1913). There are many matching gifts and challenges for those who are able to donate, and numerous scholarships, programs and initiatives that can be supported.

Join Georgia State for Latinx Heritage Month, celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Latinx Heritage Month, also known as National Hispanic Heritage Month, is celebrated in the U.S. each year from Sept. 15 to Oct.15.

ADVANCE-IMPACT: $1 Million National Science Foundation Grant To Support Initiative to Recruit, Retain, Engage and Support Women Faculty in STEM

A $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation will support the start of a new program to increase the recruitment, retention, engagement and support of women faculty in STEM fields, especially for women from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Andrei Duarte, a member of the men’s tennis team at Georgia State University, was named as an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. This edition is a part of the magazine's "decades-long tradition of recognizing outstanding minority young men and women who have distinguished themselves in their academic and athletic pursuits".
