Overview

Georgia State University recognizes students who earn the Global Scholar Distinction for their development of global competence: the skills, knowledge and awareness that enhance the ability to succeed in a global environment. Global Scholars can communicate across cultures, think critically about the world, adapt to new and unfamiliar situations and market global skills to employers. The Global Scholar Distinction is open to all majors in all colleges. It opens doors to rewarding global career opportunities at home and abroad.

Benefits

Students earning the Global Scholar Distinction receive an official notice from Georgia State and a digital badge. Recipients are encouraged to include this university distinction on resumes, curricula vitae, professional portfolios, and other methods of documenting academic accomplishments. Students taking Global Scholar courses receive exclusive invitations to workshops to learn how to build a global portfolio and prepare for job interviews.

Self-efficacy Emphasis

Students can take courses across the university that count toward their major, minor or electives. By earning a grade of “B” or better in five Global Scholar courses and keeping an institutional GPA of 3.0 or higher, the student will graduate with the distinction. There are no fees or application and is solely the responsibility of the student to complete all the requirements for the distinction.
