Overview
Students will increase their knowledge of Costa Rican culture and the health care system. Within this context, students will analyze the reciprocal influence of individual and population-based health practices. Under faculty supervision, students will apply evidence-based OT and PT practice with the goal of improving health at the levels of the individual and population, through an emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention and health literacy. Students will provide services in the context of community-based health care clinics in Naranjo, Costa Rica. Additional service opportunities will include home visits, home modifications and community-based health promotion projects.
